Hi Everyone,
The club has been invited to participate in a small competition, involving many clubs and teams. This is being arranged by Essex County due to the lacks of competitive bowls this unusual season. The preliminary round in the competition we have drawn Essex County, the selected players to represent the club on Monday 27th July at 6pm, with one triple playing at home and the other playing away, consists of: Home Adam Bailey Ron Dixie Malcolm Eldridge Away Allan Williams David Wakefield Danny Curl Reserve Allan Eldridge Some support for the players would be fantastic, but remember social distancing is still in place and the safety of the bowlers and supporters is most important.

Hi Everybody,
Hope everyone is healthy and keeping safe. As you have probably all heard by now that bowls clubs are aloud to now re-open with restrictions. This all comes into action as of 1st June 2020, i have been in communication with the board and rink bookings have been taken for roll ups. a page has been created to show booking times and who has booked. This will be updated weekly while the lock down is still in force but a better system will hopefully be implemented in the coming future. Like many I am over joyed with the announcement that bowls can finally return, but please remember we are still in a critical time within the lock down and government guidelines still have to be followed. To All Thurrock Bowling Club Members and Social Members,
Hope everyone is healthy and following the governments guidelines on isolating, this is just a general message/update regarding the bowls clubs and bowling green. All public sites and the bowls green will be shut until further notice but with being a self managed green, the clubs will still be maintaining the playing surface so when the government advise us, we will be able to commence immediately. The green should hopefully be available for use beyond September, so with a later start to the season the clubs will be able to still bowl later into the year. Thank you for your patience and hope everyone is doing well. Hi Everyone,
You can now find all club friendlies and events on the website (under friendlies heading), the calendar has been updated with with all league games, friendlies and you will also find (under matches & events heading) complete Mens and Ladies Essex Schedules. Wish everyone well during the indoor season and watch this space for more information regarding the clubs social evenings during the winter. The defence of the League Knockout continues after a closely fought semi final against Springhouse Bowls Club at Mopsies Park this morning. The final will be played against Aveley on Sunday the 8th September at 10am at Aveley Bowls Club.
Well done guys and let's get it won and go out with a bang! In what ended up a tight run league again this year, Drums have managed to say farewall to the Thurrock League as champions.
Well done to all the members that played throughout the season with all 12 bonus points being won it saw us over the line. With a starting squad of 18 to pick from, the sad passing of Mick Bonson and various sickness and holidays, it's not been easy but it looks like we just about made the right decisions as a selection committee to give the club another title. Onwards and upwards to a new chapter as bowlers of Thurrock now. |
